The worst news any parent could receive!
Sorry it has taken me so long to gather up the strenght to write this... As i wrote last sunday, we have had a conversation with our oncologist and an expert on radiation treatment. That turned out to be the worst conversation in my entire life, i still do not know how to put it all into words here on our blog.
But the bottom line is that there are two optiones left; 1: Let the tumor go its course and let Mishelle leave us. 2: Take the radiation treatment which gives her a small chance of survival, but it will also leave her with severe consequences for the rest of her life ( her ability to learn, talk , walk, etc..). what a choice to be given!! The doctores recommend the first choice because they belive the second choice to be unethical.. whatever that means..? However in order for a mother and father to be able to live when all is said and done - WE have to try everything to keep Mishelle with us. WE can not give up, unethical or not.. afterall it is our daughter, and i for one can NOT accept giving up without a fight.
But either way - our lifes will forever be changed after this... I can not describe how it feels to given a choice like this - nor do i belive that anyone can fully understand the pain without having been in this situation.
Please keep Mishelle in your thoughts.. She is a hero amongst heroes!

Out of intensive care for now...
On friday Mishelle came back from intensive care and we are back at childrens 3 floor..:o) As i said before the news we have recieved are NOT good, but we try to hang in here anyway. We are NOT ready to give up the fight.
MRI showed increased tumor volume and the doctors seems to have given up on chemotherapy treatment. Tomorrow ( or on tuesday ) we will speak with the experts on radiation and get to know a little more regaring this. But since Mishelle will have to undergo total CNS ( central nervous system ) radiation the efffects will be severe. My stomach are at the moment in a state of riot and sleeping is a thing of the past...:o( But here are at least a few photos of Mishelle from the last week. Including her first few steps WITHOUT help ( taken 2 days before intensive care visit ).

News flash
Hi ya all,
The lastest development; Mishelle started another chemotherapy on monday. Yesterday she started with epileptical cramps and was rushed off to MRI, and is currently in itensiv care once again. It is rather sad when the nurses welcome us back here.. The MRI photos will be looked at by the doctors today, but the first look yesterday indicated that the tumor had started growing again :o( There were also signs of a few edemas situated in more than one place in her head. All in all NOT a very good day yesterday... I keep hoping that the doctors will find something positive today, because i am not ready to throw in the towel. We will keep fighting this ugly thing called cancer!!
Greetings from a tired daddy

Coming up on the next chemo...
Hi ya all....
As i suspected Mishelle had to wait an extra week before starting on her next chemo. Her white blood cells did not reach the required values untill a couple of days ago... -On the bright side we have had an extra 2 days at home :o)
In other news... I would like to congratulate my brother with his birthday today. Born on a cold day in 1976 he was... hehehe Gratulerer så mye med dagen bror!
... and as usual a few photos from our recent week..

Que sera, sera
We have now spent most of the first week in 2010 at the hospital in Fredrikstad. Mishelle's blood values is still rather low, and i have serious doubts that the next chemo' will take place as planned on monday. Tomorrow "we'll be back" in Fredrikstad to see if Mishelle's body is ready for the next round... In the meantime, enjoy a few photos taken this last week. ( And since i know you're reading this....to everyone at B1- thank you all for taking such good care of us!! )
