YES!!

At last, after 6 weeks of despair, we finally got some good news to share with you today. Mishelle has won her first big battle; the tumor has stopped growing and is showing signs of decrease. After having knocked on St. Peter's door last friday where the doctors did not know if she would make it through the weekend, we can now look ahead with hope!! We have all tried to keep the faith during these difficult times, but having won this first important battle against the grim reaper it gives us more strenght to keep going.
I would like to say thank you to everyone that has stood by our side and sent so many warm thoughts along the way. It really helps to know that so many people are thinking about our little angel.

Latest news and photos

This has been a very busy week... Mishelle has gone from bad to worse and is literally fighting for her life. She is once again in intensive care and is now breathing with the help of an respirator. The problem ws that her pulse was 240 and her blood presure incredible 171/119. She is now more stable and her pulse is at this moment 115. This thursday the doctores have made plans to take new photos of her head and then we will know more regarding her chances of survival. Here are a few photos as well from last week.

Situation report - Mishelle

Well here we are, going on our 5'th week inside the hospital walls... I'm starting to feel a little tired, but still hanging in here.
The latest news from the doctors has not been the kind of information we wanted to hear... Mishelle's tumor appears to have spread more . despite her first chemotherapy. She is now also struggling with her respiration, because it seems that the tumor now also have spread to that part of the brain wich controls our breathing :o( We have now started the second round with chemotherapy and we ( the entire family ) hope that this one will show us the results we so desperately are seeking: Signs that the tumor is loosing the battle!!

AT/RT

Hi ya all..

Mishelle has now spent more then 3 weeks in hospital, where she is being treated for; Central Nervous System Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumor. AT/RT is a clinically aggressive tumor that primarily occurs in children younger than 3 years. This tumor was first classified in 1987 ( prior to that is was often misclassified as a medulloblastoma, primitive neuroectodermal tumor, or choroid plexus carcinoma. The World Health Organization began classifying it as an embryonal grade IV neoplasm in 1993). Mishelle is undergoing a very though multiagent chemotherapy and we hope to see results of this in about a month or so. For anyone interested in reading a littlebit more about the tumor you can look it up at National Institute of Health's webpages. Search word is at/rt.
I am also attaching a few photos of Mishelle so that you can see that she is doing very much better than she was the last time i wrote on these pages....
